2PL (Second-Party Logistics)
Asset-based carriers (like shipping lines, airlines, or trucking companies) that transport goods for clients.
3PL (Third-Party Logistics)
Offers integrated services such as warehousing, transportation, inventory management.
Examples: DHL Supply Chain, XPO Logistics, DB Schenker
4PL (Fourth-Party Logistics)
Manages the entire logistics process on behalf of the client, often overseeing 3PLs.
Acts as a single point of contact for the whole supply chain.
Examples: Accenture, Deloitte Supply Chain Services
5PL (Fifth-Party Logistics)
Focuses on supply chain optimization, often through digital platforms and big data.
More common in e-commerce or complex global logistics.
